Swine Flu Remains a Deadly Threat in Virginia

The Virginia Department of Health is reporting a woman’s recent death may be linked to the H1N1 virus, commonly referred to as Swine Flu. If it turns out Swine Flu was a contributing factor, this would be the third death in Virginia (VA) connected to the lethal virus, according to The Virginian Pilot.

The two other Swine Flu-related deaths in Virginia (VA) occurred in Chesapeake and Arlington. April Wilson was the Chesapeake resident and the first victim. She died on June 2, 2009. Our deepest condolences go out to her friends and family.

Over 260 deaths attributed to Swine Flu have been reported nationwide and numerous infections continue to surface on a regular basis.

Internationally, close to 100,000 cases of Swine Flu were reported in England this past week, according to the BBC. A vast majority of cases are deemed mild, but the number of confirmed deaths remains 31 and could rise as the number of infected increases.
